What makes sound move people?

For more than thirty years I’ve explored that question through music, sound, technology and collaboration.

I’m a musician and creative producer. I make records, build and shape sound systems, develop ideas with artists and technology teams, and create spaces in which music can be experienced together.

The medium changes. The underlying interest does not: rhythm, movement, listening, people — and the point where technical decisions become emotional ones.

Different forms of the same work.

Music

Music is the centre of my practice. I produce, perform, record, edit and mix — usually in collaboration with artists whose ideas become stronger through exchange. Current projects include GOD ON TRIP, KEOPE and new improvised work in Berlin.

Music

Sound

I’m interested in the entire path from an idea to moving air. Studio production, acoustics, loudspeakers and listening environments are not separate disciplines to me, but different stages of the same process.

Sound

Technology

Technology interests me when it expands artistic possibility. Fifteen years at Native Instruments gave me a close view of how musicians, engineers, designers and product teams think — and how useful things emerge when those perspectives genuinely meet.

Technology

People & Spaces

Most of my best work has happened with other people. I like creating the conditions in which artists, specialists and unexpected personalities can make something together that none of them would have made alone. Lovers & Leaders in Berlin is one physical expression of that idea.

People & Spaces

A life around sound, rather than a conventional CV.

1993

Clubs became the first school.

DJing taught me timing, energy, narrative and the strange collective intelligence of a room moving together.

2001

Barcelona widened the map.

A Nitsa residency became a three-year chapter and helped turn an interest in electronic music into a much broader fascination with international musical cultures.

2008

Music technology from the inside.

What began as a role at Native Instruments developed into fifteen years working across artists, products, communication and technology — always close to the people actually making and using musical tools.

NOW

Independent again.

Today the different strands meet: making music, producing with others, developing sound systems, running GROOVE SCRIPT and creating music-centred gatherings at Lovers & Leaders in Berlin.
